Northern Flicker is dedicated to Lisa Pegher, who commissioned the work, and was inspired by two natural phenomena – Northern Lights, and a Yellow-Shafted Northern Flicker that suddenly appeared in my yard one afternoon. Special thanks to Tim Salinetro for identifying the unusual flying creature.
